Ellen Potter is the author of the Big Foot and Little Foot series, in which a young Sasquatch named Hugo befriends a young boy named Boone. The two become the best of friends, and the series documents their adventures, with a promise of laughter and entertainment.

Students at Dieterich Elementary got to meet Ellen on March 21, when she visited the school and introduced her toolkit to writing books. She spoke of what inspires her, and how she gets to know her characters. Two students even helped Ellen create elements of surprise and suspense for the audience, both of which she said are necessary for a good story. When her presentation was over, students and staff were invited to have their books signed by Ms. Potter.
