Author Kamilla Benko Visits DieterichAuthor Kamilla Benko Visits Dieterich

On Wednesday, February 20, author Kamilla Benko visited Dieterich Elementary. While she is most well-known for her Unicorn Quest trilogy, Benko is also the author of the original Frozen novel that bridges the events of Disney’s massively successful animated movie and its upcoming sequel.

Benko’s visit included lunch with Dieterich’s very own award-winning student authors, followed by a presentation to the third, fourth and fifth-grade students. In her presentation, Benko told stories of growing up, talked about inspirations for her books, and shared her process for writing and publishing. Before dismissing her audience, she answered many questions from students, revealing her favorite authors, books and movies.

The first two books of Benko’s trilogy, The Unicorn Quest, and Secret in the Stone (just released on Feb. 19) were available for purchase by students and teachers. Those who purchased books had the opportunity to meet with Benko one-on-one to have their books signed, and to have their photo taken with her.
